Henley Hawks battled to a 24-12 victory over Bridgwater & Albion in National 2 South despite have much less possession than their opponents.

As elsewhere, the wet and windy conditions made for a forward-dominated clash, which was scoreless for the first quarter.

Henley opened the scoring on 26 minutes when centre Neil Baggett (pictured) carved open the Bridgwater defence and unselfishly fed wing Pete Davies to score under the posts.

Fly half Will Fulton converted and did the same when scrum half Jack Shaylor broke a couple of tackles to score from five metres out.

Hawks’ pack had seven attempts to score a pushover try, but it was 14-0 at the break.

Fulton added a penalty on 69 minutes, but the visitors finally broke through with a try from centre James Stark.

Having earlier been denied by a disputed forward pass, wing Will Jones squeezed in at the corner for his first Henley try, which replacement fly half James Comben converted from out wide.

Former Henley player Matt Britton ran in a second try for Bridgwater late on, which full back Liam Chennells converted.
