Oxford City 0

Chippenham Tn 0

Oxford City had to be content with a draw as both sides failed to get on the scoresheet in gale-force winds at Court Place Farm.

City had the elements in their favour in the first half, but to no real effect as passes failed to find their target.

Chippenham’s Luke Gillick put in a header on goal, but Will Puddy, making his City debut, saved with ease.

Both sides found it difficult to create any decent goalscoring opportunities.

Michael Alexis was unable to control a cross from Mark Janes as it bounced off him into the hands of the Chippenham keeper.

After the break, Chippenham had the wind advantage, but rarely troubled City’s goal.

In fact it was City who came closest to scoring.

First, Michael Lyon connected with Andy Ballard’s cross, but the effort flew just the wrong side of a post.

Liam Malone then struck a shot that keeper Scott scrambled across to turn around for a corner.

As full-time approached, Scott again did well to reach Andy Gunn’s decent header.

Oxford City: Puddy, Clarke, Perpertuini, Savage, Malone, Gunn, Janes (Lyon 63), Alexis, Ballard, Steele, Brooks (Davis 76). Sub not used: Morris.
