Striker James Constable aims to fire Oxford United to their fourth straight win, in league and cup, at the expense of his old teammates when they travel to Kidderminster Harriers in today’s Blue Square Premier clash.

The 11-goal hitman is one of four United players, who have connections with Mark Yates’s side, along with Mark Creighton, Ryan Clarke and skipper Adam Murray.

And Constable, United’s leading scorer, is expecting a mixed reception, just as he got on his first return there with the U’s last season.

“Last time I got the odd boo and a bit of stick, but I think they were more disappointed that I’ve joined another team rather than the fact that I’ve left them,” Constable said.

“When I left there, I left to join a League club (Shrewsbury), and how it’s worked out, I’m back in the same league as them.

“I’ve got Mark Creighton going back with me, so he can share the stick with me. But seriously, I think any player will tell you, if you get any stick, it just drives you on to try and do even better.”

Constable, though, takes a keen interest in Kidderminster’s fortunes.

“I always check Walsall, Kiddermin-ster and Shrewsbury as my main old clubs to check their results and see how they’re doing,” he said. “I don’t wish any of them hard feelings, I enjoyed my time there and had a great time, so I wish them success – just not today!

“They’ve got a great set-up there, obviously the pitch is decent, and they’ve got a good side this season, who are doing all right, so it’s going to be a tough game. But if we play the way we have in the last few games, hopefully we should get the result.”

Conditions could play a part, with wind speeds of 30-40mph predicted.

United boss Chris Wilder will be without the services of defender Ross Perry, who is on Scotland Under 21 duty, while midfielder Jamie Cook is doubtful with an ankle injury.

Harriers will be without Lee Baker and Chris McPhee (both banned), though on-loan Peterborough defender Daniel Andrew makes his home debut.
