Substitute Alex Mott was Abingdon’s two-goal star as they eased past Hook Norton in their Premier Divison clash played on a hard, bumpy pitch in the FTL Futbol Hellenic league.

In a goalless first half, Hooky felt that they were denied a legitimate shout for apenalty when James Robbins’ left-wing corner appeared to be handled.

Abingdon took the lead on the hour when Mott cut in from the left and scored at the near post.

Hooky appeared to lose heart, and went further behind, when Abingdon were awarded free-kick for a backpass to the keeper.

From a kick across the goal area, Dean Moss netted at the far post.

Abingdon were reduced to ten men when Stuart Douglas received his marching orders for a second booking after 88 minutes.

There was still time for Mott to seal the result with his second goal from an acute angle.

Binfield 2 (Gumbs 21, Suarez 62)

Witney Utd 0

Witney produced a lacklustre display as they went down to another defeat.

After opening strongly, Witney fell behind with the home side's first attack as a free-kick drifted over the head of Dean Smith.

Darren Moore got round him to cross and, although keeper Richard Barrett made a great save from Jermaine Gumbs, the striker reacted well and fired in the rebound.

This inspired the home side and knocked Witney completely out of their stride.

Binfield’s second goal summed up Witney’s day as a cross from the left saw Stuart Cattell and Barrett leave the ball for each other, and James Suarez nipped in to head home.

Lydney Tn 3 (Kear 25, 53, Lee 85)

Letcombe 4 (Cook 5, 57, Trethowan 13, Gifford 65)

With numerous regulars unavailable, Letcombe fielded a young side and they came up trumps in an entertaining Division 1 West game.

Letcombe, who gave gave to keeper Simon Byrne and striker Calum Cook, took an early lead when a precise pass from Lyle Gifford was finished clinically by Cook.

They made it 2-0 when Gifford provided the cross for Harry Trethowan to score with a back post header.

Poor marking allowed Lydney’s Jon Kear to reduce the arrears, and early in the second half he levelled the scores.

Cook then raced away to restore Letcombe’s lead.

Gifford scored a superb individual goal to make it 4-2, beating three defenders before driving the ball low into the corner.

With five minutes left, Mark Lee converted to give Letcombe an anxious last few minutes, but they held on.

Headington Ams 2 (Barrett 65, 90)

A second-half double from substitute Aaron Barrett proved enough to give Headington a deserved win.

Despite skipper Adam Simmonds taking on goalkeeping duties and leading score Luke Cuff injured, Headington put in a superb first-half display facing a strong wind a fierce wind and kicking up the slope.

The introduction of Barrett proved decisive adfter the break.

On the hour, centre back Klaus Buckle released Barrett, who outpaced the home defence to score.

Barrett secured the points in added time, his pace again taking him clear for another clinical finish.

Tytherington Rocks 3 (Taylor 52, 72, Hicks 55)

Clanfield 1 (Williams 80)

A depleted Clanfield side missing seven regulars, held out until half-time.

Clanfield keeper Chris Brain made a superb save to deny Marcus Taylor while at the other end Ben Acock's shot hit the Rocks post.

The home side won the game with three-second-half goals from Jamie Hicks and Marcus Taylor (2).

Debutant James Williams scored Clanfield’s goal ten minutes from time

Harrow Hill 1 (Taylor 70)

Milton’s reshuffled side bowed out of the Bluefin Challenge Cup in the preliminary round.

Manager Bobby Wilkinson started the match in a defence which held out well in the first half.

Harrow Hill took the lead when Jody Taylor made the most of a mistake.

In the last 20 minutes, Milton rallied and hit the bar through Adam Bailey and had two penalty appeals turned down.
