Oxfordshire players put in a strong showing in the Midlands South Girls Championships at Studley Wood.
Frilford Heath’s Flora McPhail and Cara Gainer, plus Studley’s Sophie Stone of Studley Wood won the county prize for Oxon, while Burford’s Abi Laker finished runner-up in the under 15 event on countback after shooting 159 over 36 holes.
HADDEN Hill finished fifth in the English Junior Champion Club Tournament at Burleigh Park.
The BB&O champions’ trio of Jordan Williams, Simon Vaisey and Dominic O’Rourke led after round one, but finished four points behind eventual winners Preston on a creditable 147.
THREE Oxfordshire golfers will play in the Audi Quattro Cup’s UK Final after coming through regional qualifying at Woburn.
David Pimm and Brian Claringbold, both from Abingdon, finished fourth on countback with 39 points.
Richard Campbell, from Childrey, and his partner John Selby, from Newbury, were eighth on countback with 38 points.
They will play in the national final at Bowood, Wiltshire on September 23.
THE Berks, Bucks and Oxon (BB&O) Golf Partnership are offering to pay for club members to gain a coaching qualification.
The ASQ level 1 standardcourse costs £276 plus VAT, but if club members are willing to assist the partnership in volunteering for a minimum of six days next year, they will pay for it.
