Since returning from holiday I have been fishing on the Kennet with Colin Howes, from Botley writes ANDY WEBBER.

The stretch we are fishing is very popular and I reckon these fish have seen every method and bait on the market.

But they do grow to a fair size, so it is worth all the blanks.

I have been using pellet and wrapping scalded pellet around the lead, as I think mass baiting up spooks the fish.

So far, we have had some success with Colin landing a fish weighing 9lb, while I’ve had a couple of fish out at around 6lb.

l The Richworth Linear complex at Stanton Harcourt continues to produce plenty of carp.

Gary Cooper, from Ports-mouth, fished Manor Farm Lake and was rewarded with four fish, the best weighing 38.10.0.

Kirk Temple, a 26-year-old factory worker, broke his personal best three times during a session on Manor Farm Lake.

His biggest was the ‘The Birthmark Linear’ at 34.2.0.

l IT was a quiet week for trout anglers on Farmoor I, but those who have fished had some excellent sport, with a rod average of 4.5.

Fish to 7lb have been taken on the usual nymphs, buzzers and blobs/lures.

On Farmoor II, the fish have moved into the margins and are feasting on hoglice.

Floating lines and small nymphs fished under an indicator is the best method and many anglers are 'anchoring' their flies in the weed, with fish to 5lbs being taken.
