Abingdon Vale have contacted The Oxford Times Cherwell League, challenging the result of their Division 2 match against Great & Little Tew on Saturday.
Vale lost by 79 runs, but only after the umpires had extended the game by seven minutes after umpire Norman Stevens needed treatment following a collision with a player.
As the clock ticked past 7.30pm and the scheduled finish of play, Vale thought they had secured a draw with nine wickets down.
During that extra seven minutes, Abingon lost their final wicket and were all out for 157, in reply to Great Tew’s 236-5dec.
The league rules allow umpires to add on extra time, but they are required to inform both sides immediately on resumption after the delay.
It is this procedure that Abingdon are contesting.
“We were unaware that extra time was going to be added on,” said club secretary Paul White.
This was disputed by Great Tew captain Anthony Smith.
“The umpires made it quite clear to both captains that the official finish time would be 7.37," he said.
“It was only after the fall of the last wicket that Abingdon started disputing the extra time.”
Cherwell League secretary Peter Tomlin said that they would wait to receive reports before making a judgement.
