Didcot 4th are celebrating their first win in The Oxford Times Cherwell League.
Set up this season, the new boys have found it tough going in Division 10.
But their perseverance was finally rewarded when they opened their account at the 12th attempt with a three-wicket win over Shipton-under-Wychwood 3rd.
Chasing Shipton’s 147 all out, Didcot slipped to 97-7.
But then stand-in captain, Jonathan Hall, smashed 34 – including consecutive sixes – to steer them close to victory.
And it was left to 12-year-old wicket-keeper Callum Russell to score the historic winning runs as Didcot clinched vic-tory at 148-8.
