Sophie Leech, who trains at Blewbury, near Didcot, is on the move to a bigger yard in Devon.

Leech took out a dual purpose licence to train at White Shoot stables, which she lets from neighbouring handler Eve Johnson Houghton, in October 2007.

But with her string having increased to 25 horses, she has outgrown the 18-box yard and is now set to take over at Bearscombe Stables in Kingsbridge next month, the 29-box yard previously occupied by former jockey Liam Corcoran.

Leech, who is assisted by her husband Christian, the former British Horseracing Authority handicapper and racecourse manager at Warwick, said: “Where we are going all the facilities are for our own use.

“We won’t have to share with everybody. Basically we will have everything on site with grazing and everything we need.”

Leech, who grew up in Devon, has sent out nine winners during her spell at Blewbury, with Croc An Oir providing her first success at Uttoxeter in May 2008.
