`OXFORD United season-ticket holders will be able to watch their team for less next campaign after the Blue Square Premier club announced they cutting their prices by five per cent – for the second year in a row.

The price cut applies to anyone renewing their season ticket by May 29.

In addition, the cost of attending their games has also been frozen, while, in conjunction with the Oxford Mail, any supporter who buys a season ticket before May 1 will go into a draw to win that season ticket for free.

“The support we have had this season has been magnificent,” said United chairman Kelvin Thomas, and with such an exciting finish to the season we think everyone can see that we are heading in the right direction.

“Prices have been frozen and exisiting season ticket holders deserve a reward for their loyalty with a 5 per cent saving.

“We hope that fans will book early and enter the draw to win the cost of their season ticket back, and that they will come back in August full of hope and optimism for a very exciting season, whichever division it is in."

United are hoping to attract another bumper crowd when they host Wrexham, who are managed by former U’s favourite Dean Saunders, on Saturday.

The club are offering fans the chance to buy a family ticket for £32, which includes admission for two adults and two children under 16, provided they book the day before the game.

Meanwhile, Thomas says talk of writing off United’s play-off chances are ‘just ridiculous.”

He said: “Yes, it is close, but remember that this team were lying 13th in the league with just 30 points, when Chris (Wilder) came in.

“Now we are talking about play-offs and potentially promotion.

Oxford United's season is very much still alive and Saturday's home game against Wrexham is a chance for every United fan, young or old, to get behind their team.

“ It is a chance to stand up and be counted, bring a friend, bring the family and get behind this team which has given us all a glimpse of what Oxford United can be again.

“It is not the Oxford United spirit to lie down and die, and the spirit of this current team and the club at the moment is fantastic.

“We have played 19 league games since Chris has taken over, losing just two and drawing four. That’s 43 points from 19 games.

“That's well over championship form and the club was proud of every one of those players.”
