Hook Norton player-manger Karlton Stratford’s playing career may be over after he suffered an horrific broken leg in his side’s midweek victory over Milton United.

The 42-year-old suffered a double fracture of the tibia and fibula following a tackle by a Milton player.

He was taken to the Horton General Hospital while he awaits an operation to pin the bones.

Stratford is the fourth Hooky player to break a leg this season, which has been a nightmare one for injuries for the north Oxfordshire club.

In pre-season, Steve Prentice broke a leg at Kintbury Rangers, while Mark O’Hara and Jamie Cramond have also suffered at Shrivenham and Hungerford respectively.

Hook Norton press officer Geoff James said: “Karlton may not have the operation until early next week.

“The x-rays show that the bones were not only broken, but seem to be shattered – so it’s not looking too good.

“It has been a terrible season for injuries for us.”

Hooky welcome back Lee Harris and Ali Robinson from injury for Saturday’s Premier Division clash with Kidlington at The Bourne.

James Hastie is also back from suspension.

Witney United have signed Oxford United youngster Jack Smith on work experience, and he is in the squad for tomorrow’s trip to Abingdon Town.

John McMahon returns from suspension, but JP Mills is still banned.

Ryan Williams and Andy Younie are unavailable, and Jason Bowler and Dean Smith are doubtful.

Dean Moss is definitely out with a torn hamstring, while Abingdon keeper Gareth Walker is suspended.

In Division 1 West, Clanfield will be without Steve Olphert (holiday) and Nathan Harris (hamstring) for the trip to leaders AFC Hardwicke.

Craig Shand is back at Hungerford Town after his loan spell.

Kevin Brooks and Olly Oswin return.

Morgan Williams is back for Kidlington.

Emmett McGovern (work) misses out, while Stuart Cattell faces a fitness test on a foot injury in Kidlington’s midweek defeat at Chalfont.

l LEAGUE officials have completed their inspections of the grounds that failed to meet the FA's F grade, including Witney, who will be relegated from the Premier Division if they fail.

The FA's ground panel will now have final say on the grading of each ground, and will report back to the Hellenic before the end of the season.
