Former Oxford United youngster Kelvin McIntosh could make his return debut for Oxford City when they host Stourbridge at Court Place Farm on Saturday.

McIntosh, 25, who first joined City after being released by United in 2003, is added to the squad as City look to keep their play-off hopes alive.

The midfielder, who is from Oxford, later joined Maidenhead United before having spells at Hampton & Richmond and Sutton United.

Player-boss Justin Merritt said: “Kelvin is a very good player. He’s competitive and keeps the ball well.

“And he knows about playing at this level and that experience will be of great help because we are a young side.”

City winger Michael Lyon returns after recovering from the knee injury that has sidelined him all through March.

Merritt added: “It’s big boost for us, because since Jamie Brooks and Michael have been out, we have missed that energy.”

City desperately need to get back to winning ways after two successive league defeats which have seen them fall seven points behind fifth-placed Cambridge City.

Merritt added: “The last few performances have been below par.

“We have based our success on resolute defending, but we’re not doing that at the moment.

“The lads have felt a bit jaded because they have put in a big effort – not just physically, but psychologically.

“Now I want to draw a line under those last two games and get back to basics.

“I don’t want anyone talking about the play-offs – I want to take a step back and get the players enjoying their football again.

“But, whether it’s this season or next, we want to be a Conference South club.”

Relegation-haunted Banbury United have suffered a blow after Lewis Travers signed for Woodford United.

Banbury welcome back Mark Essex (hamstring) and Dave Buckwell (ankle) from injury for their home clash with host Hemel Hempstead.

Boss Billy Jeffrey said: “We have got tough games coming up and we just have to keep working hard and hopefully get the breaks.”

Didcot Town boss Stuart Peace has warned his players not to take their foot off the gas as they continue their Division 1 South & West play-off bid against Gosport Borough.

Although they are eight points ahead of nearest rivals Thatcham, Peace says he will not be happy until their play-off berth is guaranteed.

“We’re not mathematically in the play-offs, but we’ve got one foot in them,” he said.

“You can’t afford to relax in this league. If Bridgwater keep on winning it could go right to the wire.”

They are without Andy Williams (suspended), while Martin Brown (concussion) and Chris Harper (groin) are doubts.

Simeon Howell has signed for Burnham, while Ben Hepburn has also left the club.

North Leigh will be without Jordan Parker (unavailable), Stuart Hole (at Aintree) and Jamie Jackson (thigh) when they host leaders Truro City.

Simon Futcher could return from a dislocated big toe as North Leigh look for their sixth successive league win.
