Former county table tennis player Brian Hamilton (right) has driven in as Oxford City’s new captain.

Hamilton, who has been a member for 35 years, was surprised to keep each of his traditional three drives in bounds.

An accountant at an Oxford College, Hamilton has a busy year ahead as he is also getting married at the end of May.

Teams of four are being sought to play in a charity day at The Oxfordshire next month.

The event on Friday, May 8 will raise funds for the Sue Ryder Hospice at Nettlebed, near Henley.

Entry is £100 per head, which includes bacons rolls and coffee beforehand, plus a dinner afterwards.

For more information, contact the hospice on 01491 641384 or Nigel Bird on 07930 399104.
