Oxfordshire Under 14s slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Berkshire in their Reed Trophy opener at Milton United.
Oxon fell behind to an early goal, before Berkshire added a second.
With Tony O’Donnell shining in midfield, Oxon improved in the second half, but it wasn’t until late on that they pulled a goal back when Mhenald Remalano fired home from 12 yards after Berkshire failed to clear a centre.
VALE of White Horse Under 14s’ hopes of lifting the Vale Cup were left in tatters with a 6-1 defeat by Newbury at Kintbury FC.
With both teams having a 100 per cent record in the league competition, the game was effectively a title decider.
Newbury raced into a four-goal lead in the first 20 minutes. Sam Short pulled a goal back, but Newbury immediately scored two more to take a 6-1 interval lead.
The second half was goalless, and Newbury went on to clinch the title with a 5-0 win over Mid Oxon at Marlborough School, Woodstock.
Mid Oxon were just a goal down at half-time, but they suffered a series iof injuries in the second half and Newbury ran away with the game.
A LATE goal sent Vale of White Horse Under 11s sliding to a 1-0 defeat against Newbury in the County League at Woolton Hill Junior School.
Adam Lilley had a 25-yard drive cleared off the line for Vale, before Newbury snatched victory.
