Mine's a double! That was the order of the day for Drink Up Zorro after he sent his eight strong syndicate, the One for the Road Racing Club into ecstasy following his gutsy victory in the £8,000 William Hill Pall Mall decider on Tuesday.

He returned to Sandy Lane just over a year after winning the Trafalgar Cup to continue his winning streak which is marginally better than fifty per cent.

The white and fawn dog loves it here, so much so, the 'double' was always on the cards.

And the betting frenzy on the morning of the race, including a £10,000 to £25,000 wager, was fully justified as Paul Sallis's charge made all the running.

This was despite being slowly reeled in by the game runner-up Brickfield Class, a winner of 11 of his 16 starts here.

Sallis said: "My heart was thumping, he only ever does just enough. I think he likes a bit of company, but just won't let them pass."

A packed ring revealed a mystery punter, forever with a mobile at his ear, willing to part with thousands of pounds.

Apparently he got things right for the big one with several £500 wagers on Drink Up Zorro which paid off handsomely for the said punter, but not so for the bookmakers.

Before that, they were probably happy with their lot.

It was a bustling market throughout and great to see Anthony McPartlin, one half of the Ant and Dec partnership was present.

Hills brought along jockey Andrew Thornton who presented a trophy to Vito Rocket.

Apart from the big spectacle, Oxford hounds made a great impression and leading the way was Trafalgar Cup victor Freedom Emma who was sent off at 10-11 favourite to land the williamhillradio.com Stakes in great style.

However, what a great performance from runner-up Milton Bradley, a classy looking puppy trained by Tony Magnasco.

Bradley came in as reserve and showed Emma a clean pair of heels before her middle pace saw her home.

Trainer Richard Yeates said: "Emma is a fantastic bitch, who knows how far she can go?

“I would like to think she is a St Leger prospect, but we will have to see how things go."

Magnasco got his just reward with Max Picinell's Swift Stirling in the 645 metre event, taking up the running at the third bend to win comfortably from Best Bargain.

It was Magnasco’s first Sky victory.

Oxford almost made it a treble when Paddy Curtin's Mica Lady, a recent seven-length winner at Hove, just failed to collar Danbury Dodger on the line, beaten a neck in a rare marathon event here.

And Angie Kibble won't get many better runs out of Isle Of Tara without winning after the bitch finished runner-up to Jacs Top Lass.

A great meeting that included Miss Lee taking six spots off the 250 metres track record and rightfully given the thumbs up by Hills director of racing David Hood.

A pity, but with no Tuesday meetings, no more open racing is planned until the Cesarewitch in June.
