Oxfordshire Under 18s have to win their final game to make the South-West Counties Youth Championship play-off after a battling 2-1 win in Devon.
Despite the long trip, Oxfordshire raced out of the blocks and went ahead after just four minutes when a corner from Rio Cadle (Oxford & Cherwell College), was punched out to Andy Stone (Carterton), who promptly lashed the ball into the net.
However, a minute later Devon equalised virtue of some sloppy defending, David Hood scoring from close in.
Chris Brougham (Thame) then smashed a shot against the bar, with Jack Longford’s follow-up saved.
Cadle (twice) and Tom Conway then had to clear off their own line as Devon pushed forward, but Brougham slotted home a left-foot shot to put the visitors in front on 55 minutes.
Although Devon pushed forward looking for an equaliser, Oxon held on.
