Thame recovered from an early setback to beat New Club 4-1 in the first round of the Oxford & District League’s Stephen Reiss Cup.
Paul Evans (+20) put Thame ahead on his seasonal debut, but that was as good as it got.
Dave White (+80) and Alan Mander (+60) won their matches to give New Club a 4-1 success – a point for each individual success, and two for an aggregate victory.
Ashton, who lead Division 2, also enjoyed a 4-1 success, over Headington Conservative Club A who lie second to them in the league.
Pete Fenn (+50) saw off Terry Walsh (+90) 150-121 to put Ashton in the lead.
Peter Brookes (+110) levelled, beating John Street (+70) 150-129, but Terry Chambers (scratch) led Ashton to victory when he beat veteran Doug House (+30) 200-185.
Riley B went to Oracle and beat them 4-1, despite losing the opening game when Roger Tomlin (+70) was beaten by Ted Milsom (+50) 150-121.
Doug Baker (+60) levelled and Bob Hayward (+70) then won the match for Riley B, beating Gordon Cook (+80).
