Chinnor coach Jason Bowers hopes tomorrow’s National 3 South trip to Lydney will help them bounce back from their Havant horrow show.

The Gloucestershire side, who are immediately above Chinnor in the table, are usually a tough nut to crack on their home turf.

Bowers said: “Lydney are strong at home, so it should be the tough test we need.

“Last time in National 3, we beat them at home, and we’ve beaten them in the cup this year.

“No one knows better than the players that they played below their own high standards last week.

“They have to put to bed the issues and problems, and do their best to improve.”

Chinnor are without three of the starting XV that lost 23-14 to Havant last time out.

Fly half Ben Hewitt is not fit after a head injury, so Alex Wallace could fill in, while prop Joe Winpenny (shoulder) and No 8 Ed Rixon (unavailable) also miss out.

Prop James Eckert, hooker Paddy Stennings, flanker Max Williams, plus backs Tom Shiel and Tim Price come into the squad.

Bowers added: “We have now seen everybody apart from Rugby Lions and know there is nothing to fear.

“If we play a little bit better, we’ll be absolutely fine.

“We’ve got to be a little bit more clinical in the way we close games out.”

Henley Hawks visit Rugby Lions’ Webb Ellis Road where their hosts have held both London Scottish and Ealing to draws.

Full back Ralph Smith is likely to be out for two weeks with a dislocated finger sustained in the Dubai Sevens.

Angelo Flammia will slot into the back line after returning from RAF duty.

Prop Hugo Milford-Scott is back after a hamstring problem, but front-row colleague Hugo Gentilli is still absent, as is hooker James Clark, who is wanted by England Under 20s.

Former Henley prop James Hadfield is enjoying a good season in Rugby’s front row.

Oxfordshire centre Matt Goode, plus young fly half Alex Stevenson, who joined from Banbury this summer, should also be in the squad.
