Goalkeeper Sam Warrell was sent off as Abingdon United lost 3-1 at home to Thatcham Town in BGB Southern League Division 1 South & West tonight.
Abingdon were already 1-0 down to a Tom Melledew strike when Warrell lashed out after Thatcham were awarded a penalty for a foul by Mark Janes.
Warrell was red-carded, and Sam Rea scored from the spot.
Anaclet Odhiambo pulled one back before the break.
Odhiambo was denied a penalty, and Ben Weedon, Micheas Herbert and Luke Holden all went close in a second half, but Jemel Johnson sealed Thatcham’s win on 75 minutes.
