Jon Brown hit a double as Wallingford brushed aside South League Division 1 leaders Newbury and Thatcham 4-1 at the Hithercroft to take over at the top.

James Brice fired Wallingford ahead after 15 minutes, and Tim Chamberlain doubled their lead by shooting high across the keeper.

Brown got in on the act just before half-time from a quick free hit, and he was on hand again after the break to seal victory.

Newbury pulled one back late on.

Tom Ward netted Witney’s winner in a 2-1 victory at Leighton Buzzard.

Ben Norton had given Witney the lead, before Leighton Buzzard equalised.

Abingdon slumped to a 3-1 defeat at Wokingham with hat-trick hero Dominic Tallent doing the damage.

Tallent netted after just two minutes, and his second came from a counter attack midway through the first half.

Owen Blackburn pulled a goal back in the second half, but Tallent sealed Abingdon’s fate with his third.

Freddie Coppin’s goal couldn’t save Oxford Hawks from a 2-1 defeat at home to Chichester in Premier Division 1.

Banbury’s game at Ashford was called off as only one umpire was there at the start.

The other umpire was stuck on the M25, leaving Banbury with a wasted journey.

City of Oxford men lost 3-1 at home to Aylesbury.

They were one down at half-time and in the second half, Aylesbury scored twice more. Si Harrison got City’s goal.

Todd Hutcheson bagged a brace as Rover Oxford twice came from behind to post a 3-2 home win over Mill Hill in Middlesex, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Regional.

Mill Hill took the lead from a rare counter attack, but Hutcheson levelled after good wing play by Daniel Pilbeam.

The visitors regained their lead in the second half only for Hutcheson to produce another good finish.

And Rover snatched victory with a Richard Beer penalty flick after Tom Brownhill, who was making his first team debut, had his shot illegally blocked on the line.

Oxford Hawks 2nd went down 3-2 at Chichester in Open Premier Division 1.

Charlie Bennett & Andy Clark netted for Hawks.
