Oxford Harlequins lost 23-0 at Barnstaple in South West 1 and saw three players go off injured.

Centre Neil Spottiswoode (hamstring), lock Adam Pearson (eye) and prop Johan Ferreira (knee) all failed to last the 80 minutes.

Quins started fairly well, with Spottiswoode and fellow centre Shaunn Lombard going close, before Neil Giddy gave Barnstaple the lead with a 20th-minute penalty.

Giddy added a second penalty, then on 38 minutes Fijian wing Winston Kuva scored a try out wide.

Kuva crossed againsoon after half-time, but Barnstaple then had to defend well to keep Quins out.

The final move of the game saw full back Paul Sheeres score and Giddy convert to seal the win.
