OXFORD United are out to bash the bookies tomorrow.

Histon’s form, and home record, make them red-hot favourites against the U’s, who have managed only one win and five goals on their travels in the league.

But United manager Darren Patterson believes his team can wreck a few betting slips for those punters who include Histon amongst their banker homes.

“We can be a coupon-buster on Saturday,” he said.

“Histon have done well, and won a lot of games 1-0, but we’ve produced two decent performances on the road.

“It’s going to be a different kind of game to Dorchester,” he stressed. “We’re going to have to show commitment and bravery – that’s the biggest thing.

“Bravery to compete against a very physical side, and bravery in possession of the ball.

“On Tuesday night, we hit 28 crosses, which is a remarkable stat.

“But the stats for our league show we’re in the top three for several things, and proves we’re not far away.”

Oxford frequently dominate possession during matches, and in midweek, there were suggestions that they may be getting their shooting boots back, with three well-taken goals.

“Histon are spoilers, but they play to their strengths and I’ve got no complaints about that if it gets you success,” Patterson added.

“I don’t think the public here would stand for it, Oxford fans like their team to play good football.

“It’s a small set-up, but they have signed players that I couldn’t sign, so they’re not that small.”

Barry Quinn has had an injection to see if he can carry on playing without the need for an op.

“It’ll be good if it works because the other route is surgery,” Patterson said.

Luke Foster came through 120 minutes of his comeback game after a similar ankle injury, and should be fit to play tomorrow.

Patterson must decide whe-ther to recall Phil Trainer after both he and fellow substitute Yemi Odubade found the net in the win at Dor-chester.

And others are waiting in the wings.

“We’ll have one of the strongest benches we’ve had all season,” he confirmed.
