There is better news of Oxford Harlequins forward James Aymer, who suffered a head injury on his debut against Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.

Aymer was expected to be released from Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital, where he was taken after the match, by the end of today.

Quins coach John Brodley said: “James started talking on Tuesday, which is a really good sign. His faculties have returned.

“His first request was for some cake.”

Brodley added that Aymer was keen to resume playing rugby as soon as he was able to.

BANBURY Bulls’ hopes of promotion from Midlands 3 East South suffered a major blow after they were deducted four points.

Bulls are now ten points off top spot and six away from a possible play-off position, so will now struggle to bounce back to Midlands 2 East at the first attempt.

Banbury coach Grant Holmes explained: “There was an administration error with regards to a player registration.

“He was played under the belief he was registered when he was in fact not.”

FORMER Witney Angel Louise Gray has been selected for the Scottish squad to play France in February.

Gray, a centre, now plays for Henley.

NEWLY-FORMED Alchester maintained their winning form with a 12-10 success at previously unbeaten Amersham & Chiltern 3rd.

Alchester trailed 10-0 with 15 minutes to go, but tries from Garrick Kimber and Joe McAneaney, plus a Matt Flegg conversion sealed a narrow win.
