BROUGHTON & North Newington defeated AFC Hinksey 5-2 in an Oxford Senior League Division 2 match that had almost everything, writes BRIAN KIRK.

Hinksey started the better, and took the lead on 20 minutes with an easy tap in from Marlon James.

However, by the end of the match, James and his Hinksey teammates Calum Conlon and Dean Simms had all been sent-off!

Broughton levelled when Johnny Hopcraft flicked on Mark Tyler’s long throw and Alec Hale finished well.

Aaron Dixey’s 18-yard peach put Broughton ahead in the second half, but his strike was outdone by Liam Gurdev’s 30-yard thunderbolt, which made it 2-2.

Michael Bolton scored Broughton’s third after Mark Asburn’s flick, and Danny Hastie added a fourth.

Hinksey went down to eight men before Hastie netted with a David Beckham-style lob from the halfway line.

Slade Farm United defeated Yarnton Res 6-2 despite never playing their best football.

They led 3-0 at half-time thanks to Matty Gardner, Adam Barker (penalty) and Matthew Blenford.

Gardner crossed for Blen-ford to head home a fine team goal before Yarnton hit back to make it 4-2.

Dave Barrie’s double strike wrapped up the points for Slade.

First-half strikes from Stuey Wells and Steve Mulcock earned Bletchingdon Res a 2-0 win over Chadlington Res.

Kennington battled back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with OUP in the Premier Division thanks to a brace from Rob Cattel.

OUP dominated the first half, scoring through Jimmy Gray on seven minutes and Matty Spooner, who latched on to keeper Rob Hamling’s clearance, on 25.

Cattel pulled one back after 39 minutes with a deflected shot and equalised in the second half.

Middleton Cheney came from behind to edge out Fritwell 2-1 in their top-of-the-table Division 1 clash.

Fritwell took the lead on five minutes when Adam Holland pounced on a rare mistake by skipper Luke Terry and fired past goalkeeper Charlie Wright.

Cheney finally equalised with 20 minutes to go when Scott Finch fired home from Seb Salt’s corner.

Steve Twynham grabbed the winner soon afterwards.

Watlington’s young side produced their best performance of the season with emphatic 5-1 win at Yarnton.

Sam Eeles, David Heycock, Bertie Proctor, Nick Skinner and Tom King scored with Graham Eagle replying.

Charlton Res climbed off the bottom of the Division 3 table with a 2-1 victory over high-flying Adderbury Park Res to claim their first three points of the season.

But Neil Bustin’s penalty, after he had been fouled, and a fingertip save from keeper Jovan Vukoman earned Charlton the win.
