Rover Oxford have much work to do if they are to maintain their National League status.
They remained in a relegation play-off spot following their 4-0 defeat at home to Exe in Conference West.
Rover started the game with strength and precision, passing the ball around fluently and looking dangerous in attack.
However, with two lapses in concentration, they handed Exe two goals against the run of play, and that was the score at half-time.
In the second half, Rover looked as if they were dominating for ten and 15 minute stretches again, but Exe capitalised on two Rover mistakes to score twice more.
