Magdalen College School, Oxford, have their first world champion chess players.

Matthew Daggitt, from Kidlington, and Ben Thorne, from Summertown, came out on top of 50 other players in the inaugural Summerscale World Junior Exchange Chess Championships in London.

They captured the pairs title after winning six of their seven matches.

Exchange Chess is a popular version of the game where players partner each other against two other players, with taken pieces being replaced on their partner’s board.
