Chipping Norton boosted their Section 1 survival hopes in the Shaw Gibbs Oxfordshire Foursomes League with a dramatic final-hole victory over Frilford Heath.

Matt Johnson calmly holed a three-foot putt to seal the decisive win for him and the evergreen Mark Stanton.

Match one saw Frilford's Paul Richardson and Dean Newbold snatch victory on the final green after Danny Hicks and Shaun Kench three-putted.

The second match saw a return to winning ways for Andy Johnson and Tim Reynolds, who holed some vital putts to run out 3 & 1 winners against Nev Davies and John Summers.

Frilford's Phil Collier and Dickie Gavrilovic took an early lead in the fluctuating final match, only to see Johnson and Stanton hit back with five birdies in seven holes.

The final six holes were nip and tuck, but the Frilford Pair failed to get up and down for par at the last and Johnson did the rest.

In Section 2, North Oxford lost another nail-biter 2-1 to Brailes.

After winning the first match, they looked set to gain at least a draw with the last two games level at the 18th tee.

But Brailes held their nerve to win both holes and complete a hard-fought away victory.
