Matt Day is set to join Blue Square South side Bognor on a three-month loan.
The 21-year-old, who scored for England C in their 6-2 defeat in Bosnia in the week, has been put on the transfer list after issues over form and fitness.
He returned to pre-season training overweight and United manager Darren Patterson said earlier this week that he had lost patience with the defender.
"He's not done well enough with the opportunities he's been given," Patterson said.
"I'm wholeheartedly disappointed in the condition he's come back in. He can have nobody to blame but himself.
"He's a fantastic lad, but it's time for him and I to go our separate ways. Hopefully this will give him the best opportunity to play regular football."
Day joins teenage striker Alex Fisher at Bognor, who are bottom of Blue Square South.
