TYLER Goodrham capped an incredible week off the pitch with promotion on the Wembley turf.

The 20-year-old attacker announced in a post on Instagram that his partner is pregnant, and he then went on to play the full 90 minutes as Oxford United won the Sky Bet League One play-off final.

It’s been a remarkable couple of seasons for Goodrham, who enjoyed an impressive breakthrough campaign last time out.

He scored on his league debut for United, in their first home game of the 2022/23 season, and then played a pivotal role in helping the U’s secure third tier safety at the end of the campaign.

Strikes in the victories against Cheltenham Town and Forest Green Rovers went some way to United staying in League One.

This season, he has taken his game to another level, bagging 10 goals and five assists across 51 appearances in all competitions for United.

In the League One play-off final against Bolton Wanderers, Goodrham excelled in midfield to round off a special week in style.

He said: “To top off the amazing week that I’ve had with my partner, and in my personal life, announcing the baby news, it’s been amazing.”

Reflecting on his Wembley experience, Goodrham said: “It was absolutely unbelievable. We went there on the Friday before, to look around and take it all in. It was just unbelievable.

“I’ve watched bits of it back, I’ve not had chance to watch the full game back yet, but I’m sure I will.

“I felt like it all went really quickly. The 90 minutes went really quickly.

“To get the club where it belongs, and the ambition we all have, as players and as a whole in general, is unbelievable.

“Our fans are always unbelievable, and to sell the tickets that we did. You can sell the tickets, and not be noisy, but we were unbelievable, and the fans were incredible.”

The victory at Wembley sparked jubilant scenes, with the celebrations lasting long into the early hours of Sunday morning.

Goodrham said: “I was one of the ones taking it a little bit lighter. I still had a couple and still enjoyed myself.

“There were some unbelievable scenes. I didn’t drink as much as some others, but I still had a really good time and a really good night.”

Looking ahead to the Championship next season, Goodrham revealed he is most looking forward to the clash with Queens Park Rangers.

Goodrham said: “I was a boyhood QPR fan, so to go there will obviously really mean a lot, so that’s probably the one I’m excited for out of everyone.”
