FORMER Oxford United striker Matty Taylor’s seventh goal since February wasn’t enough to preserve Cheltenham Town’s Sky Bet League One status.
Home side Stevenage opened the scoring in first half stoppage time when another former U’s forward, Kane Hemmings, slotted in a penalty after Elliott List had been fouled by Elliot Bonds.
Taylor gave the Robins a lifeline with eight minutes of the second half gone, when he headed home from a Will Ferry corner.

The Robins hung on as the final minutes of their time in League One ticked away, before Nick Freeman scored in the 90th minute to confirm their relegation.
Taylor joined Cheltenham from Forest Green Rovers on January deadline day, and grabbed seven goals in 13 games.
Only eight players have scored more goals for United in the club’s history, with Taylor netting 64 times for his hometown club.
