OXFORD United’s Under-18s conceded a last minute winner as they missed out on the chance to reach a final.

Frankie Maciocia handed Millwall a dream start, when he netted at the back post after just three minutes in the Under-18 Professional Development League Cup semi-final clash.

However, Harrison Bradney equalised shortly after, when he latched onto Leo Snowden’s through ball and produced a powerful finish into the bottom corner.

Josh Holton put the U’s in front at half-time in the last four tie which was played at United’s training ground, after being set up by Aidan Elliott-Wheeler.

A brilliant free kick from Jack Howland brought Millwall level, and then the young U’s were dealt a sucker punch in stoppage time when Kavalli Heywood bagged a dramatic late winner.

United coach Pablo Haysham told the club website: “The boys showed a lot of determination today. Obviously bowing out of the cup is a disappointment, especially with it being from such a late goal, but to come back how we did from going down after three minutes was really impressive.

“We controlled the game well at times, taking the lead through a couple of really well-worked goals, but unfortunately we just couldn’t keep the lead and lost it right at the end.”

Millwall, who beat Chelsea on penalties in the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup, will face either Swansea City or Watford in the final.
