JOSH Murphy says he speaks to his twin brother, Newcastle United’s Jacob, immediately after every game.

The twins came through the Norwich City academy together, and between them, went on to make 154 appearances for the Canaries.

While Josh established himself in the first team, Jacob had loan spells at Swindon Town, Southend United, Blackpool, Scunthorpe United, Colchester United and Coventry City.

The latter had a breakthrough 2016/17 campaign, and joined Newcastle for a reported £12 million in July 2017. Josh left Carrow Road the following summer when he signed for Cardiff City in a deal said to be worth £11m.

Oxford United winger Josh said: “We’re super close and speak every day, and straight away after the game on a Saturday, we’ll have a debrief on our games.

“The connection is really good, and if I can help him with some pointers, and he can help me, then that’s brilliant.”

The U’s wide player poked fun at his twin at United’s Christmas party, sporting a Newcastle kit and a sling, in reference to Jacob’s shoulder injury.

Josh joked: “I was actually being quite lazy. I got the letter J in the raffle that we did, and it was either go as the Joker from Batman, but then I’d have to go and get the costume and face paint, or I could go as Jacob, so I thought it’d be easy doing that.”
