OXFORD City slipped to 13 points from safety in the Vanarama National League after suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Aldershot Town.

The Shots took the lead after 11 minutes when James Daly beat the offside trap and played the ball across the face of goal for Lorent Tolaj.

Lewis Coyle equalised shortly before the half hour mark when hammered past Jordi van Stappershoef after Reece Fleet’s ball into the box.

The visitors restored their lead seven minutes before the break when Tolaj slipped a ball through for Josh Stokes, who slotted under Tom Watson.

Tyler Frost struck the bottom of the post for the Shots, who saw out the game to secure all three points.

Banbury United are a point inside the National League North relegation zone after falling to a 3-1 loss at Darlington.

Matty Cornish gave the hosts the lead, before Oxford United loanee Aidan Elliott-Wheeler equalised for the Puritans moments into the second half.

Andrew Nelson and Cameron Salkeld handed the Quakers the victory though.

Bottom side Didcot Town lost 1-0 at home to AFC Totton in Southern League Premier South.
