ELLIOTT Moore is set to return for Oxford United as they head to league leaders Portsmouth.

United’s skipper has missed the last three games with a hip problem, but has made a full return to training this week.

In Moore’s absence, the U’s had drawn with Wycombe Wanderers and Northampton Town, and suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to Leyton Orient last time out.

ANALYSIS: How likely is it that U’s will hit Des Buckingham’s play-off points target?

United head coach Des Buckingham said yesterday afternoon: “Elliott Moore’s good. He’s trained fully this week, and trained with the team.

“He’ll train tomorrow and should be available for selection, as long as he comes through that session.”

Marcus McGuane meanwhile made his return from a quad injury as a substitute against Orient, and is available to play from the start if selected.

Buckingham said: “Marcus is fully fit, so we’ve got a big selection in midfield with Josh McEachran, Marcus, and Oisin [Smyth] who should be in there, on top of Cam [Brannagan] and Jay [Matete].”

With Fin Stevens and Smyth back in contention for the U’s now, it means only wide duo Marcus Browne and Kyle Edwards remain on the sidelines, with longer-term injuries.
