FORMER Oxford United manager Mark Lawrenson is set to be a guest speaker at the club’s end of season awards.

The Liverpool legend, who managed the U’s for seven months in 1988, will be joined by the evening’s host, Sky Sports News presenter Jo Wilson.

Lawrenson won five league titles, one FA Cup and one European Cup while at Liverpool.

He told the United website: “I’m pleased to be invited to Oxford United’s end of season awards night this year to share the evening with the club’s players, staff, sponsors, and supporters.

“It’s going to be a great night and I’m really looking forward to sharing some stories of my football career.”

Wilson added: “I’m delighted to be part of Oxford United’s end of season awards this year. Since I moved to Oxfordshire, it’s been great to follow the club as my local team, and it’s going to be a real privilege to celebrate the club’s achievements this season, as well as a fantastic opportunity to showcase the success of the men’s, women’s and academy teams.”

The evening will include a three-course meal and chance to vote for the U’s goal of the season, and will take place at the University of Oxford’s Examination Schools in the city High Street on April 21.
