OXFORD United dropped out of the Sky Bet League One play-off places after Stevenage’s win at home to Cambridge United.

Des Buckingham’s side began the day in sixth, a point clear of seventh-placed Stevenage.

However, a Jordan Roberts goal 10 minutes before half-time was enough for Stevenage to see off managerless Cambridge.

It means the U’s dropped a place to seventh in the third tier.

On the tail of United is now Leyton Orient, who leapfrogged Blackpool into eighth after beating the Seasiders 1-0 at Brisbane Road.

Ollie O’Neill, who scored Orient’s equaliser in their 2-1 win at the Kassam Stadium on Saturday, netted for the second match in succession, seven minutes into the second half against the Tangerines.

Richie Wellens’ Orient side are now three points shy of the U’s, with both teams having played 35 games.

Elsewhere, automatic promotion hopefuls Derby County suffered a shock 2-1 loss at home to struggling Charlton Athletic, who claimed their first league win since November 28, a run which had stretched back 16 games.

Highly rated centre back Eiran Cashin gave the Rams the lead six minutes before the half-time break, however the Addicks hit back through an Alfie May penalty and then a Karoy Anderson strike with 10 minutes to go.

Bolton Wanderers, also in the race for automatic promotion, were beaten 1-0 at Wigan Athletic, as Stephen Humphrys netted the game’s only goal with just over 20 minutes to go.

Lincoln City beat Shrewsbury Town 3-0, thanks to goals from Ted Bishop, Reeco Hackett-Fairchild and Lasse Sorensen. The Imps, in 10th position, are six points shy of United.

Late goals from Joe Low and Beryly Lubala saw Wycombe Wanderers claim a 2-0 win at home to Cheltenham Town.

Fleetwood Town secured a late comeback draw in their relegation six-pointer away at Port Vale.

A goal from Jensen Weir and an Ethan Chislett penalty handed the Valiants a 2-0 lead at the break, however the Cod Army hit back with a Jayden Stockley brace in the closing stages.

The 30-year-old striker netted his first goal with two minutes to go, before salvaging a dramatic point three minutes into stoppage time.

Bottom side Carlisle United ended a run of eight straight defeats with a 1-0 win at Burton Albion. Veteran centre back Paul Huntington scored the only goal of the game just before the half hour mark.
