Oxford United's player of the season, defender Luke Foster, has signed a new two-year deal with the club.

The news came last night and is a boost to the U's before Tuesday's pre-season friendly at home to Wycombe.

Young keeper Ben Hinchliffe has also signed a short-term deal.

Manager Darren Patterson said: "We are very pleased Luke has signed again.

"He did have a year's contract left with a year option, but this is a completely new deal.

"We had been negotiating for some time. Luke did very well for the second half of last season and got a well-earned player-of-the-year award.

"Now he knows he has got to do it for the whole season. And if he does then he and we can go on to better things."

Macclesfield duo Michael Husbands and Levi Reid, both wide players, have also joined United on trial and look likely to be involved in one of their pre-season games this week.
