JAMIE Cumming is set to return next weekend after missing Oxford United’s draw at home to Reading.

The Chelsea loanee was substituted at half-time against Portsmouth in midweek, after suffering a minor groin problem late on in the first half.

It ruled him out of yesterday’s derby against the Royals, however he is expected to be back between the posts when United make the trip to Blackpool.

There is however more worrying news for Oisin Smyth and Fin Stevens, who also collected knocks against Pompey.

Although Stevens was forced off in midweek, Smyth was able to continue, however his problem was aggravated further after the game.

U’s head coach Des Buckingham said: “Jamie should be good for next week, so the scan’s revealed hardly anything.

“It was enough to keep him out, but it’s not too serious that we won’t get him back for next week.

“Oisin will be two weeks and Fin likely three.”

Alongside Cumming, United are also set to be boosted by the availability of Sam Long, Billy Bodin, Josh Murphy and Will Goodwin for the game against fellow Sky Bet League One play-off hopefuls Blackpool.

Long’s return will be a welcome one at right back, bearing in mind that both Smyth and Stevens will be absent for the game at Bloomfield Road.
