OXFORD City claimed an important three points at home to Ebbsfleet United, but remain bottom of the Vanarama National League.

Andre Burley scored the only goal of the game with nine minutes to go in the first half.

A Hoops corner was cleared to the edge of the penalty area, with Nya Kirby’s ball back into the box flicked on by Reece Fleet to Burley, who beat the offside trap and finished past Mark Cousins.

In the second half, Aaron Williams-Bushell made an important block on the goal line, to deny Dominic Samuel’s header at the far post.

The visitors also crashed the crossbar via Luke O’Neill’s free kick, after Dominic Poleon was fouled on the edge of the penalty box.

The Hoops remain bottom of the National League, three points adrift of safety.

Banbury United also secured a crucial three points, in winning 1-0 at home to Scarborough Athletic.

Lawson D’Ath netted shortly before the half hour mark, tapping home from close range after a low cross from Oxford United loanee Aidan Elliott-Wheeler.

The Puritans moved up to 18th in National League North, four points clear of the relegation zone.

Didcot Town returned to the bottom of Southern League Premier South after suffering a 4-0 defeat away at Merthyr Town.

North Leigh stretched their lead at the top of Southern League Central Division, with a 3-1 victory at Welwyn Garden City. Kidlington drew 0-0 at home to Hadley, while Thame United claimed a 1-0 win at home to Kempston Rovers.
