OXFORD United’s Sky Bet League One clash at home to Northampton Town has been postponed following a pitch inspection this morning.

Match referee Thomas Kirk inspected the Kassam Stadium pitch, and a decision was made to call the fixture off due to a frozen pitch.

The U’s said in a statement: “Freezing conditions in Oxford this week left a frozen pitch at the Kassam Stadium despite the covers having been on and match referee Tom Kirk made a decision at 10am to call the game off.

“Tickets for the game will still be valid when the new date is arranged.

“Our tribute to fans who died in 2023 will now take place at our next home game, against Barnsley on Tuesday evening.”

Elsewhere, Oxford City announced yesterday afternoon that their trip to Woking has been called off.

The Hoops posted online: “Following an earlier pitch inspection, our Vanarama National League fixture with Woking this weekend has been postponed due to a frozen pitch.

“A rearranged date for the fixture will be announced at a later date.”

Banbury United have also seen their game today postponed, with the Puritans confirming this morning: “Today’s National League North fixture against Spennymoor Town has been postponed following an inspection due a frozen pitch at the Brewery Field.”

In Southern League Premier South, Didcot Town’s visit to Hayes & Yeading United has been called off, also due to a frozen pitch.
