OXFORD United have received no offers for Marcus McGuane, head coach Des Buckingham has confirmed.

U’s midfielder McGuane was linked with a bizarre switch to Polish side Legia Warsaw.

Buckingham though dampened that particular rumour when asked about it yesterday afternoon.

He said: “It’s nothing that’s come into the club. Players will be linked all the way throughout January, and I’m sure towards the end, it’ll get even worse, in terms of more names being linked both to us and from us.

“Marcus is our player and an important player for us this year, and he won’t be going anywhere.”

McGuane’s contract expires this summer, however United hold a one-year option, which as of yet, hasn’t been triggered by the club.

The Arsenal academy graduate has scored twice in 31 appearances for the U’s this season, while including the loan spell when he initially joined the club in August 2020, he has netted three times in 138 games.

Legia Warsaw meanwhile are currently fifth in the Polish top flight, and finished second, behind Aston Villa, in their Europa Conference League group. Legia face Norwegian outfit Molde next month in a knockout round play-off.
