BANBURY United rescued a point in their trip to Blyth Spartans in Vanarama National League North.

Ethan Fitzhugh, a January arrival from Leicester City, gave the Puritans the lead within the opening sixty seconds, only for the home side to level matters five minutes before the break, through Sunderland loanee Harry Gardiner.

Rhys Evans then nudged the Spartans in front when he found the top corner from a counter-attack with 72 minutes on the clock.

The Puritans equalised five minutes later though via Ken Charles, for his ninth league goal of the season.

Mark Jones’ side are 20th in the table, three points above the relegation zone, but with games in hand on most of the teams around them.
