FIN Stevens says he has heard nothing from Brentford regarding a recall from his loan spell at Oxford United.

The 20-year-old right back has been linked with a recall from his parent club, to allow a switch to Sky Bet Championship side Blackburn Rovers in the second half of the season.

James Beadle was absent from United’s matchday squad at the weekend, fuelling rumours the goalkeeper will be recalled by Brighton & Hove Albion, however Stevens says he hasn’t heard anything from the Bees.

“I haven’t heard anything, so for me, it’s as it is,” he said.

“I’ve played 90 minutes for the last few games, so it’s been tough but good for me to play that many games in a short amount of time, to get me going and build a bit of confidence.”

The U’s fell to a 6-2 defeat at second tier promotion hopefuls Coventry City in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup, but Stevens hopes the injury-hit United squad can bounce back for tomorrow night’s trip to AFC Wimbledon in the last 16 of the EFL Trophy.

He said: “We knew it was going to be tough when we came here, they’re in the league above.

“We said we’d give them a game and do what we could, and I thought in the first half, we kept the ball quite well at times, but their third goal killed us.

“The lads knew we weren’t good enough at times, but we’ve got to put that behind us and go again because we’ve got another game on Tuesday.

“We’ve got to put it right on Tuesday and do what we can there.

“We’re struggling a bit and there’s quite a few out, and we’re waiting for a few players to come back, but we’re doing what we can at the moment with the squad we have.

“There aren’t many players to rotate the squad with, it’s been tough but we get on with it and do what we can.”
