This is Des Buckingham's latest column written exclusively for the Oxford Mail.

First of all, I hope everyone is safe and well after all of the flooding around Oxfordshire over the last couple of days.

The weather has been horrendous and the roads have been difficult but hopefully, nothing gets in the way of the travelling Yellow Army today as we head for Coventry in the FA Cup.

We will have 3,000 fans there, which is brilliant support, and there should be a really good atmosphere.

I do think you lose a little bit of that with earlier kick-offs- today is a 12.30 start - but hopefully, we can give you something to shout about nice and early.

Our away support is phenomenal and last weekend at Charlton really showed that connection between the team and the fans.

It was an important win, especially when you consider the number of players unavailable through injury.

Even on the day Jordan Thorniley had to pull out with a back problem which meant Oisin Smyth stepped into the side. What an impact he had!

Oisin has had to be patient but his attitude has been spot on.

He hasn’t grumbled about not playing, he just works hard, trains really well and knew that when he got his chance he would have to take it.

That sounds easy, doesn’t it? But in reality coming into the side and being up to speed is never easy.

You can try too hard if that makes sense, but after a nervy first few minutes, Oisin settled down, played really well and then got himself into the goal of the season competition with his 30-yard winning goal.

It was a fantastic moment, especially with his mum and dad over from Ireland for the weekend.

It meant that we have won two of our last three games in the league and that will give us momentum when we go back to it next weekend.

We may have one or two of the injured players available again by then but right now we have to focus all of our attention on two big cup competitions this week.

On Tuesday we travel to Wimbledon in the Trophy with a quarter-final place at stake and the winners just two games from Wembley.

But first, let’s put all of our energy into today’s game and the FA Cup.

We are the underdogs, away from home at a team from a division higher and we still have players missing. But you know what?

That’s the sort of storyline that still makes the competition so great. If you are coming with us then make some noise and let’s see if we can really make it a day to remember.
