OXFORD United face the prospect of a New Year’s Day trip to Charlton Athletic without any first team wingers.

The U’s were already down to just Tyler Goodrham and Stan Mills prior to last night’s defeat at home to Derby County, but the duo were both substituted during the game.

United head coach Des Buckingham confirmed in his post-match interview that Goodrham tightened up in his hamstring, and that’s why he was withdrawn at half-time.

Everton loanee Mills was taken off shortly before the hour mark, with Josh McEachran coming on in his place.

Buckingham said of Mills: “He was feeling something in his foot at half-time, but nothing that made him come off at half-time.

“It was one where we were keeping an eye on his movement, so it was a precautionary one for him as well.”

The quick turnaround in games leaves question marks hanging over the availability of Goodrham and Mills.

Marcus Browne and Kyle Edwards are out with hamstring injuries, while Josh Murphy has been sidelined for three weeks with a calf problem.

Billy Bodin may return for the trip to The Valley, while James Henry and Ruben Rodrigues could also provide options in the wide areas, should the U’s be down to the bare bones.

Alternatively, Joe Bennett and Fin Stevens could play as wing backs if United switch to a back three against Michael Appleton’s Charlton.
