FORMER Love Island winner Finn Tapp has left Banbury United.

The 24-year-old defender signed for the Puritans in July, while it was at Oxford City when he hit the headlines after winning the winter version of the reality TV show back in February 2020.

He has been replaced in the Puritans squad by Charlie Waller, an 18-year-old on loan from Sky Bet League Two side MK Dons.

Waller, who signed his first professional contract in June, was named the Puritans’ man of the match in their 1-0 defeat at home to Curzon Ashton.

Puritans manager Mark Jones told the club website: “Facing the hard winter games ahead and the potential for more injuries, we recognise the burden on our pairing of Jack Davies and Tai Fleming at the back.

“I’ve said changes need to be made and I’m making them. The addition of Charlie should be a great strength to the team.

“This loan signing corresponds with conversations I’ve had with defender Finley Tapp, who is considering his career choices and feels he can no longer commit to the club.

“Finn has been with us since our first pre-season training session. We thank him for his part in developing the new squad for this season and look forward to seeing what he does next.”

Waller has made two EFL Trophy appearances for the Dons, scoring in a 3-2 win at home to Northampton Town.
