DEMOCRATS moved to the top of Group B in the Oxford Summer League after a good 5-1 home win over Dolphin B, writes PETE EWINS.

Terry Green (8,710), Bob Parsons (6,060) and John Patey (5,750) won the opening three games to put their side in complete control.

Joe Storch (3,330) pulled a game back, but then Parsons (2,450) and Patey (51,300) completed a fine win.

Berinsfield Club won 4-2 at home to Nelson B.

Craig Mace (3,750), Geoff Mace (10,820 & 9,400) and Billy Howard were their winners.

Sean and Nicki Stratford replied for the visitors.

Nelson A swept to the top of Group A with a brilliant 6-0 whitewash over Masons.

Pauline Withey (6,960, breaks 6,550 & 4,400), Kevin Godfrey (5,180 & 10,270) and Keith Sheard (17,850, break 11,530 & 6,810) were in top form.

Second-placed Corner House A pulled off a 4-2 win at Didcot Con Club.

Jenny Abbott (5,840) and Dave Tooke (3,240) won for Didcot, but victories for Peter Farrelly (20,720 & 3,170), Mick Jones (11,840) and Ian Moss (12,790) gave Corner House the points.

Group C leaders Gladiators Club went down 4-2 at Bletchingdon Club.

Colin Winstone (2,510 & 3,510), Andy Skinner (3,670) and Shaun Brookbanks (2,610) put the hosts 4-1 up before Bob Pincombe (7,090) made the score respectable.

Headington Con Club A won 5-1 over their B side.

The improving Ian Gordon (3,250 & 2,690) and Tim Jeffries (2,370 &1,260) were in food form, while Rob Inall (2,110) saved the whitewash.
