OLLY Sanderson scored a late double to help Oxford City lift themselves out of the Vanarama National League relegation zone.

Josh Parker gave the Hoops the lead from the penalty spot against AFC Fylde, before Fulham loanee Sanderson netted twice in the final 10 minutes.

City head coach Ross Jenkins gave debuts from the start to defender Mitchell Roberts, released by Birmingham City in the summer, and midfielder Rafferty Pedder, on loan from Queens Park Rangers.

The visitors went close via Nick Haughton’s free kick, which was saved by Chris Haigh, and an Emeka Obi header.

Pedder then won the Hoops a penalty, which Parker converted just before the half hour mark.

Parker came close when he struck the crossbar with a free kick shortly before half-time.

Haigh then turned a Haughton drive round the post, before the midfielder attempted an audacious lob from well inside his own half.

It looked to be heading into the top corner, however the back-pedalling Haigh managed to tip the ball over.

Sanderson replaced Parker with 13 minutes to go, and he scored three minutes after coming on when he slid the ball under Max Metcalfe after good play from Zac McEachran.

Four minutes later, Sanderson made sure of the three points when he pounced on a rebound after a Renny Smith strike.
