JAMES Golding has jumped up a division after heading out on loan for the second time this season.

The 19-year-old defender spent the opening weeks of the campaign with Vanarama National League South outfit Dartford, but has been recalled by Oxford United and immediately been sent out on loan to Maidenhead United of the National League.

The Magpies are currently embroiled in a relegation battle as the early season table continues to take shape in the highest level in non-league.

On May 2, Golding extended his contract with United – just seven weeks after agreeing a new contract on March 14.

In March, the teenager signed a fresh deal after his first professional contract – signed in March of last year – was due to expire this summer.

That contract was due to keep Golding with the U’s for a further year, however the club announced that the defender had signed a ‘long-term’ deal.

Golding has made eight appearances for the club after making his debut against Tottenham Hotspur Under-21s in the Papa John’s Trophy back in October 2021.

He has yet to feature for United’s first team this campaign though.
