Oxford United have brought in 10 new faces this summer already but Liam Manning has revealed there could possibly be one more through the door.

The United boss said there may still be some movement on the transfer front, whether that be in or out, before the window slams shut this evening at 11pm.

Keeping tightlipped on any named, Manning said that the club have not needed to be “reactive” over the final few days of the transfer window and that any new signing made would “improve [the squad] rather than it being essential”.

Manning said: “Hopefully there will be some movement and then obviously I will be delighted to see the window shut.

“There might be one out but at the same point, there still might be one to come in as well.

“It’s the same approach, it's about doing the work properly I think we have got to a position now where we have done a lot of good early work it is not essential, we don’t have to be reactive.

“We don’t have to scramble to get people through the door, which I think is really important.

“I think we have managed to get ourselves in a position where if we can add quality to the group and can bring someone that will only improve us rather than it being essential is a good position to be in. There might be a little bit of movement but you never know."

United have already signed Ruben Rodrigues, Mark Harris, Jordan Thorniley, Josh McEachran, Greg Leigh, and Max Woltman on permanent contracts.

While signing James Beadle, Sonny Perkins, Fin Stevens and Stanley Mills on loan deals.

Manning revealed that the club hasn’t had any huge offers for their players but believes any interest is a positive.

He said: “We haven’t had a load of cash offered, I can assure you on that one.

“You don’t want to lose your best players, it’s always complimentary when there is interest in people but I think the group are all in what we are trying to do and what we are trying to build here.”

“I think you can see that with the response to the second goal last week, not just the players on the pitch but the staff and the bench. When you watch it back all the subs are stood up celebrating.“

The U’s boss reiterated keeping the core group of players together is essential to the progress of the club and praised the board for backing him.

Manning continued: “What we have got here is terrific group lads who are all in and working as hard as they can to improve and trying to progress the club, which is really important. If we can keep that core group of players together and keep the quality then so be it.

“I have to say a terrific amount of credit goes to the board for the support they have given us to allow us to transition the team and element of the club. We are in a good spot but we have a huge amount of work to do.”
